Panoramic view from the slopes of Pico do Fogo in NW direction down to the N part of the caldera of Fogo and its escarpment (known as Bordeira), at least partly formed by massive prehistoric landsliding. Portela and Bangaeira, the two villages of the community of Chã das Caldeiras, appear in the left portion of the picture. Both of them were partly destroyed by the lava flows of the 2014/15 eruption, and have been rebuilt on top of the lava.
