Panoramic view down the S slopes of Volcán Osorno. A lahar channel leads all the way down to the valley of Río Petrohué on the left side, and Lago Llanquihue is shown on the right side of the scene. The lake, one of the largest of Chile, fills a depression left by a Pleistocene glacier. The andesitic stratovolcano Calbuco (2015 m), which can be seen in the right central background of the picture, is known for its very explosive eruptions, most recently in April 2015.
