Silvretta | Fluchthorn with traces of process chain

WI_at001_31_509.jpg

This photo was taken one week after a chunk of rock of approx. 1 million cubic metres had detached from the S peak of Fluchthorn (central background), reducing the summit elevation from 3399 m to 3380 m. The rock avalanche impacted a damp area with some small lakes (hidden behind the moraine ridge in the centre of the picture), resulting in a splash of debris and water reaching the Furtschöl valley, impounding a lake and producing a debris flow downstream. The event caused no significant damage.
