View from the vicinity of Cruce de Afur down the Barranco del Bufadero in SE direction to the village of María Jiménez in the background of the scene. The pronounced peak on the right side is Roque la Fortaleza. The lower slopes and valleys of the Anaga peninsula are characterized by rather arid conditions. The area near the ridge, however, receives more precipitation and is often shrouded in fog, supporting the occurrence of laurel forests.
