Secondary crater formed during the most recent eruption of Pico do Fogo in 2014/15. The eruption started with the lava flow moving towards the background of the scene, obstructing the road crossing the caldera. Later flows turned right and partly destroyed the villages of Portela and Bangaeira. The escarpment of the caldera (Bordeira) is shown in S direction in the background of the image.
