Lake Katwe with salt mine

WI_ug062.jpg

Lake Katwe fills an ancient volcanic crater in the Western (or Albertine) Rift. Salt mining goes back to the 16th century. It represents a source of income for the local community. However, the traditional way of mining also leads to health problems.
