This periodic market is held close to the Tajikistan-Afghanistan bridge at Tem (near Khorog). Border crossing for Afghan traders is facilitated in order to boost the economy of the extremely isolated and economically challenged Afghan part of the Pamir which is socio-culturally closely linked to the Tajik part.
