Highway M34, connecting Dushanbe with Khujand. Istiqlol Tunnel (or Anzob Tunnel) is 5040 m long. The tunnel was realized by an Iranian company and, though still unfinished, first opened in 2006. Tunnel safety suffered from flooding and the absence of an operational ventilation system. The photo shows the NE portal.
