Lago Llanquihue and Volcán Calbuco

WI_ch230d1.jpg

View down the SW slopes of Volcán Osorno, with various volcanic cones, to Lago Llanquihue and the stratovolcano Calbuco (2015 m). The lake, one of the largest of Chile, fills a depression left by a Pleistocene glacier. The andesitic Volcán Calbuco is known for its very explosive eruptions, most recently in April 2015.
