Chuquicamata | Former mining town

WI_ch330f.jpg

This mining town hosted the workers of the copper mine of Chuquicamata for many decades. In the early days it was representing a rather closed system, providing many facilities while keeping the miners dependent on the company. The town was abandoned, and the inhabitants were resettled to the nearby city of Calama until 2007.
