Köfels Rock Slide | Panorama

WI_at010c.jpg

View from Breite Lahn, forming part of the scarp of the prehistoric Köfels Rock Slide which blocked the Ötztal Valley and dammed a lake in the area of today's basin of Längenfeld (right edge of the image). The Ötztaler Ache eroded the deep Maurach Gorge through the rock slide deposit (right centre). Also the outlet of the Horlachtal Valley (right central background) was shaped by the rock slide and its consequences. The Fundustal Valley with Fundusfeiler (3079 m) is seen in the left part of the image.
