View over the harbour and the city of Murmansk in S direction. Founded in 1915 at the E shore of the Kola Bay in the N part of the Kola Peninsula, the place has evolved to the largest city N of the Arctic Circle worldwide, despite a significant decline in population since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
