The Dublin Docklands have evolved since the 1980s on the grounds of derelict port facilities and, in the early 21st century, represent an important business area. This scene shows part of the Grand Canal Docklands, with a mixture of refurbished and post-modern buildings. They extend along the very start of the Grand Canal, connecting Dublin with River Shannon in W Ireland. It was in operation from 1804 to 1960 and now serves for recreation.
