The Roman amphitheatre shown on the left side was built around 100 CE. It had a capacity of approx. 25,000 and was later converted into a fortified settlement which declined over time. Buildings inside were removed in the early 19th century. In the early 21st century, the amphitheatre is used for bullfights and other types of performances.
