The small town of Le Grau-du-Roi extends between lagoons, salt marshes, and the Mediterranean Sea. River courses in that area changed frequently in past centuries, before regulation measures were taken. The Vidourle, one of those now channelized rivers, is used as the port just before it empties into the sea.
