This tunnel (which is actually a sequence of two tunnels, 6.9 and 3.7 km long) came into operation in 2010. It connects Ólafsfjörður and Siglufjörður in the N part of Tröllaskagi, shortening the road distance between the two towns by approx. 60 km in summmer and 230 km in winter.
