Bobby Fischer was an American World Chess Champion. On the one hand, he contributed significantly to chess. On the other hand, he repeatedly ran into troubles for his political views and personal behaviour. He was granted Icelandic citizenship for Humanitarian reasons in 2005 and deceded in 2008. His grave at the cemetery of the Laugardælir church near Selfoss is a popular destination for chess players visiting Iceland.
