This scene in the central district tells much about the younger history of Osijek: the building on the right side probably dates back to around 1900, when the city was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The cinema on the left side reminds of the Yugoslav era. Both buildings display damages related to the Croatian War of Independence.
