Makarska, located on the small strip of land between the Dalmatian coast and the steep seaward slopes of the Biokovo mountains, looks back to a long and diverse history. One of the more recent chapters of the story is the development of the place to a major tourist destination. The peak in the central background is Vošac (1421 m).
