Uvala Zavratnica

WI_hr485.jpg

This cove along the Adriatic coast most likely represents a flooded river valley (ria). In scientific terms, it is neither a fiord nor an uvala, despite its appearance and its name. In the early 20th century (when this area was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire), the place was a popular holiday destination for the upper class of Vienna and Prague.
