The Karl Marx-Hof, located near the Heiligenstadt railway station in the district of Döbling, represents one of numerous community-subsidized tenement buildings in Vienna. Built in the 1920s, it played a prominent role in the civil unrest in the 1930s as a refugium for members of the socialist block.
