The Salinas Grandes are a salt flat extending over more than 200 square kilometres at an elevation of approx. 3450 m asl. Salt is mined in the salar, but this sign indicates local resistance against the extraction of lithium, a much needed resource for batteries of electric cars and many other types of devices.
