PN Conguillío | Araucaria trees and Volcán Llaima

WI_ch243a_501.jpg

Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzle tree, pehuén) is a very particular representative of the southern conifers. The species is very old and therefore often called a living fossil. It is native to a relatively small area in the Andes of the Sur Chico of Chile and adjacent Argentina. Volcán Llaima (3125 m) is shown in the background.
