The volcanic zone of La Garrotxa consists of lava flows and around 40 cones, which formed in the last 700,000 years. One of the youngest and most well-shaped cones is the Santa Margarida volcano in the centre of this picture. It goes back to an eruption approx. 11,500 years ago. View from Castell de Colltort in NE direction.
