WI_ge001_357_38.jpg

Nagelfluh chain near Hochgrat (1834 m). This mountain range at the N rim of the Alps consists of conglomerate rocks (shown in detail in the foreground of the scene) locally known as Nagelfluh. They have their origin in sediments transported out of the early Alps which later consolidated, and were folded and tilted due to tectonic forces.
