View from Kanisfluh in SW direction to the Damüls mountains with Klippern (2066 m). This part of the massif consists of a mix of hard limestone and darker, softer, and more erodible marlstone, which all formed at the N shelf of the Tethys ocean. This so-called Helvetic system is common in Switzerland, but only found in the very W of Austria. The Rätikon appears in the background, with the most notable peaks from left to right: Drei Türme (2830 m), Zimba (2643 m), and Schesaplana (2965 m).
