Panoramic view from Diedamskopf to the Lechquellen mountains and Damüls mountains in the left background, Kanisfluh (2044 m) in the left centre, and Hirschberg (1834 m) and Winterstaude (1877 m) on the right side. Kanisfluh is composed of Jurassic limestone, and Hirschberg and Winterstaude of Cretaceous limestone. All these rocks formed at the N shelf of the Tethys ocean. This so-called Helvetic system is commonly exposed in Switzerland, but only found in the very W part of Austria.
