View from the vicinity of Ponta do Albarnaz (Flores) in NE direction to Corvo. This smallest island of the archipelago has a surface area of 17 square kilometres and a population of approx. 400, all of them living in Vila do Corvo. The caldera crowning the island and plenty of seabirds attract a certain number of visitors, who arrive at the harbour or at the small airport. In the case of severe winter storms, when sea and air traffic are suspended, Corvo is one of the most isolated places of the European Union.
