View from Pico dos Sete Pés over the Caldeira das Sete Lagoas in SW direction. Three lake-filled maars of Holocene age are shown on the right side: Lagoa Seca (with little water), Lagoa Comprida, and Lagoa Negra. These depressions formed due to phreatomagmatic explosions, induced by the contact between magma and groundwater.
