Periglacial processes have played an important role in landscape evolution: the large tongue-shaped structure at the bottom of Hölltal (centre of the image) is a relict rock glacier. Höllkogel (2323 m) and Geierhaupt (2417 m, shaded by clouds) are shown in the background.
