This square in the historic centre of Rijeka reflects some of the various influences that have shaped the city over time: the Modello Palace shown on the left side, dating back to the times of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was planned by Viennese architects. It stands in sharp contrast to the Italian-style building in the right portion of the scene.
