Topitza | Rock fall and earth flow

WI_at095_643.jpg

The complex landslide in the foreground of this image (E side of the Topitza mountain) is connected to a geological hard-on-soft situation: hard limestone overlays much softer clastic sedimentary rocks. Rock falls in the limestone facilitate earth flow processes in the softer rock, proceeding farther down-valley. View in E direction, the Petzen/Peca with Feistritzer Spitze (2113 m) is shown in the background of the scene.
