The confluence of Quebrada Humantay (view upstream) and the valley of the Río Santa Teresa (foreground) was strongly affected by the glacial lake outburst flood process chain of 2020. River bank erosion resulted in slope destabilization and numerous landslides. Some of them might have temporarily blocked the river, with the consequence of secondary flooding due to breaching of those natural dams. The village of Chaullay is shown in the right central background of the scene.
