View from the vicinity of Chucura in W direction to Volcán Sabancaya (5976 m). This stratovolcano has shown repeated activity since 1986 and may produce several explosions a day, with ash clouds rising 3 km and more. This scene depicts the early stage of an eruption, with a small plume consisting mainly of steam.
