This hillslope neighbourhood represents a consolidated informal settlement: it was founded through land invasion some decades ago, mainly by people migrating from the countryside to Lima. Later on, when the inhabitants had managed to earn some more money, the quality of the buildings has gradually improved, and so has the provision of public services. At the same time, the "front" of new land invasions has shifted towards the steeper slopes and the edges of the city.
