This informal settlement near the N border of the metropolitan area of Lima represents a pueblo joven ("young village"). Satellite images of 2012 indicate a much smaller extent of the neighbourhood, and those of 2003 show barren land. Invasion of unoccupied land, mainly by people migrating from the countryside to Lima, is a common phenomenon at the edge of the city. Later on, the quality of the buildings will likely improve, and so will the provision with public services.
