View from Piedra del Peñól in NE direction to the small town of Guatapé. Filling of the hydropower reservoir of Peñol-Guatapé in the 1970s led to flooding of the lower part of the city. However, the lake has also brought new economic opportunities to this town, as it plays an important role for recreational activities and represents a popular leisure destination for the inhabitants of nearby Medellín.
