The top of the tower of the New Town Hall shows one of various interpretations of the Münchner Kindl (literally meaning Child of Munich), the symbol in the coat-of-arms of the Bavarian capital city. The figure evolved in the 16th Century out of the original symbol of a monk with a bible.
