View from the Berlin TV Tower down to one of the major squares in the E part of the city (right portion of the image). The 125 m high tower of the Hotel Stadt Berlin was completed in 1970 as part of the Interhotel chain of the GDR. It was later refurbished and is now operated as Park Inn. The large building in front of the hotel was also completed in 1970 as an HO-Centrum-Warenhaus. It has retained its function as a shopping centre also after the collapse of the GDR.
