Due to restructuring of the Pirelli company, parts of the former industrial grounds of Bicocca in the N part of Milan have become available for other types of use, so that the neighbourhood is characterized by a mixture of industrial facilities and post-modern residential buildings. Also the University Milano-Bicocca is located in this area.
