This hoodoo or earth pyramid has evolved in a deposit characterized by a broad variety of grain sizes, most likely glacial till. The area beneath the large block at the top is protected from the otherwise intense erosion related to heavy rainfall, resulting in the formation of the column. It is, however, short-lived in geological time scales, so that the landscape is changing rapidly.
