This major former mosque was built in the period of Arab reign. Some of the columns date back to a Roman temple. After the Reconquista, a Roman-Catholic cathedral was inserted. Representing one of the largest religious buildings worldwide, this unique complex has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
