Córdoba | Historic centre with Mezquita-Catedral

WI_e5120.jpg

View from the bell tower in NE direction. The large complex of buildings in the right portion of the photo represents the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba. A major mosque was built here in the period of Arab reign. After the Reconquista, a Roman-Catholic cathedral was inserted in the middle of the mosque. Representing one of the largest religious buildings worldwide, this unique complex has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984.
