This glacier is approx. 250 square km large and 30 km long. Moving down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the ice calves into Lago Argentino along a front of 5 km length which sometimes impounds one branch of the lake, leading to episodic breakthroughs. This photo was taken few weeks prior to such a breakthrough.
