This national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site consists in a mosaic of cloud forest and grassland (locally known as patana) at 2100-2300 m asl. in Sri Lanka's central highlands. It displays a high level of biodiversity and hosts various endemic species. The prominent summit in the central backgound is Adam's Peak (2243 m).
