Gish River | Floodplain with sediment mining

WI_in114.jpg

View from the National Highway 31 in southwestern direction (downstream). The sediment transported out of the Himalaya and deposited on huge alluvial fans in the forelands - such as the one formed by Gish River - is not only interesting from a geomorphological, but also from an economic point of view: particularly gravel is expensively sold to nearby Bangla Desh, where gravel is rare.
