The Great Belt Fixed Link - finally opened in 1998 - connects the Danish islands of Fyn (viewpoint) and Sjælland. The 6.6 km long West Bridge can be seen in the foreground. It carries motorway and railway to the artificially enlarged island of Sprogø. The 6.8 km long East Bridge in the background leads the motorway onwards to Sjælland, whereas the railway uses a tunnel for this section. The central span of the East Bridge is with 1,624 m one of the longest worldwide.
