Kirkenes with Bøkfjorden

WI_no141.jpg

View in northwestern direction to the town centre of Kirkenes and to the Bøkfjord. This remote settlement close to the Russian border has served as a port for iron ore mined nearby since the early 20th Century, and as an important strategic point during World War II. In the early 21st Century it mainly relies on fisheries and various types of services.
