This prehistoric monument is the heart of a large complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age artefacts. Built between 3000 and 2000 BC, the original purpose of the ring of upright rocks is still subject of debate. Representing a major landmark of England, Stonehenge has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.
