The moraine of Jatunraju Glacier (centre of the image) impounds Laguna Parón. The original level (4185 m asl.) of this largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca has been lowered and is controlled through a drainage tunnel for reasons of lake safety. Nevado Huandoy (6395 m) appears in the upper left portion of the image.
